10 York County events not to miss in October

As we turn down the heat of summer, York County is turning up the fun in fall! Everything from festivals to fashion, even spooky events and championship games. Almost anything you can think of you can find right here at home this month. There will be so many events for you and your family and you do not want to miss out!

Here are 10 events in York County for you to enjoy in October:

  1. York County Fashion Week | October 2-7 | All Day Event

You read about the fashion weeks around the world, now you can take part in your very own! For the first time ever, York County will be hosting Fashion Week. On October 2-7th join designers and fashionistas of York County for a week of Fashion, Culture, Life-Style, and History. The goal is to create a six-day fashion week in cities across York County and to highlight local brands, innovators and entrepreneurs.

  1. United States Disc Golf Championship | October 3-6 | Winthrop University

Winthrop University will host the US Disc Golf Championship this year October 3-6. Come out and watch as competitors from all over the country come together to compete for the national title. There are so many events planned for this championship game and you do not want to miss out on this experience right here in York County!

  1. 14th Annual Blues & Jazz Festival | October 4-5

The 14th Annual Blues & Jazz Festival in York County is almost here. Come celebrate the roots of modern music with rhythms, soulful sounds, and high energy performances. The kick off events will be at 2 locations: Springmaid Park and The Larne Building from 7-10 pm on Thursday and Friday will be the restaurant crawl featuring 8 restaurants and 8 performers!

  1. Yorkville Literary Festival | October 5-6 | Downtown York

The city of York will be hosting the First Annual Yorkville Literary Festival on October 5-6. Come join us to enjoy author presentations in various business venues throughout Congress Street, street performers, workshops, and speakers. Bring your entire family out as a community wide “Reading Initiative” will be launched to encourage families and children to read more!

  1. Spirits and Stories: Brattonsville by Twilight | October 20 | 3pm-9pm | Historic Brattonsville

Bring your entire family because there is something fun for everyone! There are so many activities and events planned just for you at Historic Brattonsville’s Spirits and Stories: Brattonsville by Twilight. You will get to experience everything from historic cooking to self-guided battlefield tours. This is certainly an event that you and your family do not want to miss.

  1. Oktoberfest | October 20 | 4pm-10pm

Come out and join us in Old Town Rock Hill at Fountain Park for Oktoberfest! There will be music performances, races, kids play zone, strolling accordion player, and lots of German Style Beer!

Music Performance Times will be 4pm-6pm | 6:30pm-10pm.

  1. 25th Annual Apple Harvest Festival | October 20 | 10am-5:30pm | Windy Hill Orchard & Cidery

You don’t want to miss out on joining the Fall Family Tradition. “The Apples are all picked and that means it is time to celebrate!” There will be music, a hard cider bar, cider donuts, apple butter making, local barbecue, a children’s bonce house, and so much more.

  1. Boo-seum at the Museum | October 21 | 1pm-4pm | Main Street Children’s Museum

Come take apart in fun for the little ones. Come dressed in fun costumes and join us for games, activities and crafts. There will be a costume parade and lots of treats.  For members and children under 12 months it is free and for non-members it is $6. Please come

  1. Spooky Science: Face Your Fears | October 27 | 10am-4pm | Museum of York County

Have you ever earned a bravery badge? The Museum of York County is giving you the opportunity to face your fears as you travel throughout the museum’s galleries. You will face preserved specimens such as: bats, mice, and bones. Dare yourself to face your fears and earn your own bravery badge

  1. iMAGINE STEAM Festival | October 27 | 11am-4pm | Fountain Park

Bring all grade school children out to have fun while learning at the iMAGINE STEAM Festival hosted by South Carolina’s Coalition for Mathematics & Science at Clemson University. This festival is designed to show grades K5-12 education and career paths in science, technology, arts, engineering, and math through fun and hands-on learning. There will be many activates, interactive demonstrations, and family- oriented entertainment.
