Southern Film Series: Key Largo
Humphrey Bogart heads an all-star cast that includes Lauren Bacall, Edward G. Robinson and Lionel Barrymore in KEY LARGO (1948). Bogart plays Frank McCloud, a World War II hero who visits a hotel in the Florida Keys owned by the beautiful wife (Bacall) and crippled father (Barrymore) of his best friend, who was killed in the war. The trio soon become the prisoners of a mob of gangsters led by Johnny Rocco (Robinson) who hole up in the hotel to await the passing of a hurricane. Initially reluctant to confront the gangsters, the war-weary McCloud is finally forced to act when the ruthless actions of Rocco and his men result in the deaths of a deputy sheriff and some innocent Seminole Indians who seek shelter at the hotel.
