Emmett Scott Recreation Center

Emmett Scott Recreation Center is situated on a 10.3 acre site and includes a gym, community room, craft room, classroom and game room. Outside the facility, visitors will find an outdoor basketball court, a handicapped accessible pool, a large multipurpose field, a walking trail, picnic shelter and tot lot. Formerly the Emmett Scott High School for African-American students, the property was renovated over 20 years ago and includes the 1,100 seat McGirt Auditorium named for the school’s principal, Ralph W. McGirt. Currently host to theatrical plays, gospel singings, and pageants, McGirt Auditorium is a mixture of the old and the new Rock Hill.

“Thanks, Rock Hill! In every way, you made our delegates feel comfortable and welcomed. That’s the key to a great conference.”
